Glendale Middle School Welcome Back Night
F.A.C.E.S. Utah & SLCAP will help sponsor a welcome back event for faculty, students, parents, and community members at Glendale Middle School on Thursday August 27th, 2009 starting at 6:00 pm.
The sponsors of this event hope to strengthen community ties, parental involvement through PTSA, and re-emphasize the focus on the students' education for this upcoming school year. Food & entertainment will be provided; so come join us!
Free ESL Classes at Glendale Middle School
SLCAP F.A.C.E.S Utah along with Horizonte, Glendale Community Ed, Glendale Middle School & Glendale PTSA have collaborated to offer free ESL classes at Glendale Middle School.
If you or anyone you know is interested in this service, please call Huy Nguyen at (801) 214 - 3117 or email him at hdnguyen@slcap.org. The date and time is still to be deteremined and dependent on what works for the majority that are interested.

Grant Writing Workshop
A representative from the Utah State Capitol and Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice will be talking about various aspects of grant writing. This includes indentifying best practices on program development, discussing key terms in the grant writing process, and providing additional grant writing resources,.

Come join us for an insightful workshop relating to topics of communication. We will be discussing how to improve all types of communication i.e. verbal, non-verbal, written, etc...
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Workshop / Career Day
Students at Northwest Middle School had recently finished a CSI learning unit in their science class. Two guest speakers were invited to share their professional experience.
The students had an opportunity to ask any questions concerning the subject matter they had just learned to a police officer and a forensic scientist.
Utah PTA Convention
Regional delegations of PTA members gathered for training and voted on the upcoming year resolution. The FACES program sent a delegation of 9 participants to increase our knowledge of school programs and resources for parents.
Glendale Multicultural Assembly
Students at Glendal Middle School performed cultural dances from 13 different countries. The students performed in front of an audience of parents, community members, and fellow students.
The FACES program co-sponsored this event and helped with teaching the students different dances and providing costumes for the performances.
